FRANK A. FORNARI, PHD
Chairman
Dr. Fornari, co-founder of BioMech, brings more than 35 years of research, scientific and executive experience to this biotechnology group. Previously Dr. Fornari co-founded and was the CEO and medical director of Dominion Diagnostics, one of the country’s leading pharmaceutical monitoring laboratories and served there from 1997 to 2011.
Prior to Dominion, Dr. Fornari was a research scientist and consultant to the pharmaceutical industry. He has extensive experience in basic scientific research, clinical medicine, toxicology, chemistry, teaching and drug development and has managed several academic, industrial and clinical laboratories and research facilities. Dr. Fornari has authored numerous scientific publications, has regularly presented at national scientific meetings, has been a member of many scientific societies, holds several patents and is a frequent speaker and industry expert in molecular genetics and pharmacology.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Fornari earned a B.S. degree in Biology from St. Vincent College, received Master’s training in Neurophysiology at Ohio University and holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Pharmacology and Toxicology with postdoctoral training in medicinal and analytical chemistry, biophysics, drug design, and molecular genetics from the Medical College of Virginia.

JOHN A. DOUGLAS
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Douglas is co-founder of BioMech and the originator of the sensor hardware and motion analytics software employed by BioMech for data collection and analysis. Mr. Douglas has more than 30 years experience building technology and technology businesses, beginning with his career at Apple Computer in 1988. Mr. Douglas is responsible for and actively participates in all areas of hardware and software development, motion analytics algorithms, and clinical solutions design.
Prior to co-founding BioMech, Mr. Douglas founded and served as Managing Member of Monterey Systems, a provider of software development, information management solutions, and management consulting for legal and healthcare technology markets. Prior to Monterey, Mr. Douglas served as Global Director of Trading & Operations for Reuters with responsibility for Europe, Asia, North America, and the Middle East, and served as Chief Technology Officer at Ease Technologies, Inc. where Mr. Douglas devised, built, and established a core business around the Triad Financial System for financial services firms (sold to Reuters in 2002) used by more than 1,500 users and 100 sell-side trading firms worldwide.
Mr. Douglas’ additional experience includes tenures at Aderant, StarLaw, TractManager, Apple Computer, Alpha Technologies Group, and extensive work for Micro Dynamics, Ltd. in the areas of document imaging, high speed search & retrieval, and process automation / workflow management applications. Mr. Douglas received a B.A. in English Cum Laude from Georgetown University.

Mr. Brown, President of BioMech Holdings, brings decades of experience at senior operating levels.
Prior to joining BioMech, Mr. Brown was a Partner and Chief Financial Officer of Gee Holdings, LLC a boutique private equity holding company with portfolio companies that spanned the mobility and software spectrums. While at Gee, Carter’s responsibilities included the strategy, finance, M&A, accounting, legal and HR functions. Carter served as an operating executive for a number Gee’s portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Gee, Carter was co-founder and Chief Financial Officer for KGRA Energy Corporation, where he raised and managed seed and secondary rounds of venture capital funding. In his 20+ year career, Carter has participated in or led the negotiation and execution of approximately $4 billion of transactions. Carter has an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a BA from Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Bauer, co-founder of BioMech, brings more than 35 years of research, scientific and executive experience to venture. Previously, Dr. Bauer co-founded and was the Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Dominion Diagnostics, a nationally recognized clinical laboratory with locations in Rhode Island, Vermont and North Carolina, serving there from 1997 to 2011.
Prior to Dominion, Dr. Bauer was an assistant professor at the Medical College of Virginia. She held a position at Stanford University Hospital and has designed, built, staffed and managed several research and clinical laboratories while holding director certificates in several states, including but not limited to: New York, Florida, California, and Maryland. She has extensive research experience, has authored numerous publications and has presented at many national meetings.
Dr. Bauer is originally from San Francisco, California. She earned a B.S. degree in Clinical Science from San Francisco State University and a holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Pharmacology and Toxicology with postdoctoral training in medicinal and analytical chemistry, biophysics, drug design, and molecular genetics from the Medical College of Virginia.

Chief Product Officer
Ms. Bell, co-founder of BioMech is responsible for managing the full development lifecycle of the BioMech application suite. Bridget collaborates on product strategy, actively researches, designs and delivers specifications, contributes to the code base, and acts as product management for the coordination of development resources and delivery of the applications.
Prior to BioMech Ms. Bell founded ImaginatioNZ, originating the Sphere™ information management platform – an enterprise aggregation platform designed for Healthcare. Prior to ImaginatioNZ, Ms Bell worked for Monterey Systems and was responsible for designing products for iOS. Prior to Monterey, Ms Bell worked in the APAC region for Aderant a Legal Technology Vendor as a Business Solutions Consultant. Prior to Aderant Ms Bell worked for two of Australia’s top-tier Law Firms; Clayton Utz and Herbert Smith Freehills, spanning nearly a decade. Ms Bell’s additional experience includes tenures with NewsLink Pty Ltd and PWC in the area of Accounting.
Ms. Bell has a Master of Commerce in Business Information Systems and Strategic Management from the University of Sydney (Australia), as well as a Bachelor of Commerce (in Accounting) from Canterbury University (New Zealand), a Diploma of Programming, and is certified as a Prince 2 Practitioner (Project Management).

ROBERT A. HANAYIK

Mr. Hanayik, the Chief Operating Officer, brings to BioMech over 35 years of experience as a military officer and Defense Department civilian in the areas of administrative systems management and Operations Research (OR). Robert spent 24 years conducting applied operations research, leading analysis teams and producing highly relevant and credible analysis results for decision makers throughout all levels of the DoD.
He brings a vast array of OR experience including modeling and simulation, statistical/data analysis, math programming, and systems engineering. Mr Hanayik has extensive experience with detailed and complex analysis of logistics systems and material acquisition, for which he has received numerous awards for innovative ideas and application of integrated OR techniques. Rob also has experience in academia serving as a Course Director for the military OR qualification course (Systems Engineering approach to problem solving) and as Department Chair of the Systems Engineering Department at the Army Logistics University.
He holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration and Finance from Indiana University Of Pennsylvania (IUP) and an M.S. Degree in Systems Management/OR from Florida Tech. In addition to his formal education, Rob has had extensive training and education in numerous military and civilian programs including Organizational Effectiveness, Root Cause Analysis, Lean Processes, and Program Management. He is also a graduate of the Army’s Command and General Staff College and the Defense Acquisition University (Certified Acquisition Professional).

Previously Cliff was President and CEO of Philip Morris USA where he oversaw two of Altria’s operating companies – Philip Morris USA, the largest producer of tobacco products in the United States, and John Middleton, a maker of premium cigars.
While at the Altria family of companies, Cliff served at the executive level in a variety of functions such as operations, finance, sales, strategy and marketing. He also is active in the formation of companies, having served in an advisory capacity for a variety of growth enterprises.
Originally from Charlottesville, Virginia, Cliff earned a BA, MA, MBA and JD from the College of William and Mary, and is a member of the Virginia Bar. He also serves in leadership capacities on a variety of Boards in the State of Virginia.
